Chris Burch Renovates World Famous Nihiwatu Resort

In 2016 Nihiwatu was voted as the best hotel in the world by travel and leisure magazine. Nihiwatu was opened in 2015 after going through a total renovation by Christopher Burch and hotelier James McBride. They purchased the hotel that is located on the Indonesian island of Sumba in 2012 and thirty million dollars renovating the property (businessinsider.com).  There are twenty seven private villas at Nihiwatu and this includes Christopher Burch's private estate. His private estate is comprised of a main house, four additional villas and each villa has its own plunge pool. Nihiwatu is located on the western edge of the Indonesian Island of Sumba and has acquired the nickname "The edge of wildness". The resorts name means "mortar stone". It acquired this name because of a rock formation
